Witnesses: reacting quickly and effectively

Witnesses of sexist harassment:

  • Show up during the incivility to try to interrupt it without endangering yourself = for example, address the victim as if you knew her or him, as a friend, colleague, cousin...
  • On a bus: notify TCL agents like the bus driver or dial 17
  • In a metro or streetcar: activate the call to the emergency terminals bornes d'appel d'urgence in the stations and speak to TCL agents trained in security in liaison with the security PC and the forces of law and order or dial 17

Witnesses of an assault :

  • Rapidly notify TCL agents (like the bus driver or agents trained in security) or call 17
  • Inform the victim that he or she can and must file a complaint. Suggest that the victim call 17 and testify (in writing, specifying the place, date, circumstances and people present). Offer her your contact details.
  • If she is injured or shocked, immediately contact 15 or 18 for medical attention
  • Be available and establish a climate of safety with the victim. Do not minimize the facts. Support the victim's words.
